cCam by Chua Welic
If I had a dollar for every time I read a variation of the question “How do I disable the shutter sound on my camera?” on a forum, I’d have to shut this blog down because I’d be too busy swimming around in cash to write. I’m not sure exactly why people hate shutter sounds so much - is it because everyone on the internet is running an upsk!rt site or something? Whatever the case may be, the answer to your perverted prayers has arrived. ;)

cCam is a very small utility that does only one thing - it captures photos without a shutter sound. Regardless of your current profile this app will silently snap pics at the maximum resolution (resolution is not adjustable) and store it in the Images directory on your MMC (or phone if that’s the default). Updated version 1.01 was just released by its author and replaces the older beta version.
Simply open the app, line up your shot and click the center d-pad key to take your pic. The result will be shown on your screen and from within the Options menu you can either take a new pic, go to the image gallery or exit the app.

That’s all there is to this simple app! It’s so simple in fact that it doesn’t even install with an icon on my device. No matter though as the app works well and does exactly what it needs to do. Now download and enjoy - and we can expect the volume on those shady sites to triple any minute now…

For the record, the shutter sound seems to be region dependent, and not in any particular pattern anymore. Most EURO phones of old and new have the shutter tone turned off when warning tones are turned off in the current profile, but the APAC versions (as well as the Euro versions sold in the US flagship stores) keep the shutter tone turned on, regardless of settings.
Aside from this app to correct the problem, changing the product code to a Euro variant and flashing the phone. For details on how to do this, consult my good buddy Google.

re: autofocus, unfortunately I can't comment. I currently have three phones and none of them support autofocus (E61i, N80ie, and gf's N76). My guess would be that there's no support for it in this app but perhaps someone can confirm.
You're 100% spot on re: shutter sound of course. My Euro N80ie has no shutter tone with warning tones disabled and my APAC E61i and N76 both go clickity click...

as a matter of fact, i'm one of those gazillion people who request a silent shutter. the greatest thg on my 3250 is being able to take a pic from the sides, without ppl even noticin a thg, i use it to snap pics of my teachers @ uni or my friends when they're doin sthg worth memorizing, or random ppl at restaurants, public places,... the shutter sound is the only thg that bugged me until now cuz i had to put my finger on my 3250 speaker and take the pic, which can't be intuitive. And my friend has trouble getting her finger in the right place when she takes the phone and tries to snap the pics herself.
Now my prayers are answered!

Now we have a prog. tat remove the shutter sound!
now all I need is a program that remove the RED light on my N95 that is shining when I`m recording movies :P
But i think I solder it out.... that`s the most easy way to do it :)
I did open my N95 some days ago..
And the complete FLASH module is on a single chip with a plug :)
