Upcoming Nseries Device Will Feature QWERTY Keyboard!

I won’t be linking to stories that I post on BGR very often because my content there rarely intersects with SiMo. I had to make an exception here though to make sure that SiMo readers were among the first to know about an upcoming handset that is probably going to be the most highly anticipated S60 device of 2008. Yes we already know that we can expect Nokia’s answer to the iPhone - but this my friends, is the phone that we’ve all been waiting for…

It looks like Nokia is finally biting the bullet and issuing a device that packs all of the functionality that we know and love from the Nseries into an Eseries-esque form factor! That’s right folks - an Nseries with a full keyboard! Sources indicate that the body will be similar to the E61i; a wide, thin candy bar with a QWERTY keypad. It will sport a 5 or 6-megapixal cam with autofocus and 30 fps video recording (no word on a xenon or dual-LED flash). I’m also told that it will run S60 3rd FP2, feature integrated GPS, and might even include some goodies that we haven’t seen or heard about yet!

I, like many of you I’m sure, couldn’t be happier to learn about this device. It really is the handset that we’ve been waiting for, combining the best that each Nokia series has to offer. My sources tell me that the tentative release is scheduled for some time in 2H, likely towards the end of the year. So we can look forward to the first S60 Touch OS device and now a QWERTY Nseries device in 2008. What a year it’s going to be!
