[Contest] An Early Holiday Present From Psiloc!

Of course just about everyone knows by now that one of the most sought-after apps in Symbian history is now available for S60 3rd devices. I’ve posted several times about irRemote and it’s already being enjoyed by thousands I’m sure. Well thanks to Psiloc two more SiMo readers will enjoy this great app - for free!

That’s right; I’ll be giving free unlimited license codes away to two lucky SiMo readers courtesy of Psiloc. How can you get one? Well this contest is very simple (and not very creative). Post a comment. Yup, that’s it! Tell me why you want irRemote, tell me why you love Psiloc, tell me why you love SiMo, or tell me whatever else you want. :)

At the end of the week (Friday) I’ll pick two comments at random and the authors will receive their license codes via email. Good luck!

The contest is over! Click through to see the winners.

Handy Contest: Invent an S60 App

Stefan of IntoMobile has just posted a nice review of Epocware’s Handy Taskman and in doing so he has also announced a week-long contest hosted in the comments section of his post. Handy Taskman is one of those staples that absolutely must be installed as soon as a new device hits my hands. It’s such a simple utility but it packs an attractive little interface and it does what it needs to do quite well.

The contest is quite simple and I think that everyone should participate because it speaks to us all. What functionality is missing from S60 that you would like to see a new app provide? You have a week to tell Stefan about it and then his top three choices will receive a complimentary license for Handy Taskman. Sweet! Get a great free app just for talking about what you think S60 is missing! On top of the free code you might even find that your idea is taken on by Epocware or another developer who reads IntoMobile.

So head over to Stefan’s post and get those ideas in before the contest deadline of November 26.

Congrats to the Winner of the 1,000 Words Contest!

That’s right, the winner of Palringo’s 1,000 Words contest has been chosen! Believe me when I tell you that it was a very difficult selection process. We received so many great entries from everyone who participated and it was extremely hard to agree on a winner. I would like to thank everyone who sent their entries into the contest group. We hope that you guys at as much fun sending in your entries as we did viewing them:

So without further ado, I present to you the winning entry! Now join me in admiring the winner’s photo and then join me in being a bit jealous of the prize… ;)

This pic is just awesome! It was taken at Millenium Park in Chicago and it’s actually a giant LED screen that is part of The Crown Fountain - it spits water right out of the center of the screen! The best part about it is the breakdancers in front of the screen. It’s awesome that this contestant managed to snap the pic right when one of the dancers did a one-handed handstand; kudos Cheryl - everyone loved your entry!

As promised, Cheryl will be receiving a brand-spanking-new Nokia E90 Communicator courtesy of Palringo! Palringo’s app works well on any S60 3rd device but i would imagine it’s especially great on a free E90…

There are also two runners up that I’d like to showcase. While it might not be quite as impressive as the grand prize, each runner up will enjoy free EZ S60 3rd themes for life. :)

First runner up:

Looks to me like an awesome state park but I don’t remember exactly where it was taken to be honest. Perhaps the contestant who sent it in can comment below. :)

Second runner up (tie between two photos from the same person):

These photos were taken and IMed from 3,000 feet above the ground in a hot air balloon! Very cool…

So congrats to all the winners and thanks again to all of the contestants! This has been a great contest so a big thanks goes to Palringo as well, and to mobile9.com for supporting it.

The names of the winners have been omitted from this post until they have been contacted for approval.
