Free Commercial Themes, First Run
This was to be done on my personal blog but since it’s been a month or so since I’ve posted there, SiMo it is!
As some of you may know, I started offering several commercial themes via Handango some time ago. I made them for fun (I’m admittedly not the greatest themer) but figured I’d sell them to cover the costs associated with this blog. They ended up selling quite well, in fact many of my themes were number 1 sellers. For reasons outlined in several posts I’ve written however, I’ve decided to pull all of my themes off of Handango. I won’t go into it again, see this post if you’d like an explanation.
I’ve decided to make most or all of my commercial themes available for free here. I would say please don’t repost them without linking back here, but why bother? So enjoy:

Psiloc Locatik Updated to Version 0.97; Beta is Open!

Psiloc’s LBS offering is finally taking shape. While it’s still in early development, features are starting to get flushed out now and the big picture is starting to form. Perhaps most importantly, Locatik has exited closed beta! Users can now go to the website and register or simply go to m.locatik.com to download the latest version and register a new account right from within the app during the setup process. As I’ve said before, I can’t wait to see where Psiloc takes this app.
New features in version 0.97:
- New GPS algorithm implemented - major improvements to battery life
- Messaging feature added -Exchange messages with your friends from within the app (messaging not yet supported on the website)
Also, place support has been added since I last mentioned the app here. You can now go to the Locatik site and add details to your tiks so that all of your friends can see the info you add and the places you mark. If you’re unfamiliar with Locatik, you can check out my earlier mention or just go to the site and check it out.
JoikuSpot Exits Beta, Version 2.00 Released

Kudos to Joikusoft! One of my favorite apps (in fact, it just might be included in the Five Apps series) has just been updated and it is no longer in beta. I’m sure you already know all about this great app so I won’t get into the nuts and bolts of it. Just head on over and download version 2.00. Release notes:
- Landing page works with all operators
- Encryption support with WEP including 128bit key generator
- Battery threshold shutting down the client when battery level is too low
- Default Access point setting
- Support for secure SSH tunnels with Putty
- GPS location with Google Maps integration for extended mapping services at joikuspot.com landing page
SiMo Blog Themes; Updated and Still Free
Who doesn’t enjoy a free theme every now and again? As I was debating which commercial themes of mine to share first, I came across the two themes I had made for this blog. For those who didn’t see the post on my no defunct personal blog, I will be distributing all of my commercial themes for free as I no longer wish to create any business for Handango.
Back to the matter at hand, I came across the themes I had created for this blog and decided to give them a quick update. Sorry to non-QVGA device owners as I only had time to update the QVGA versions. These days, that should cover a large majority of SiMo readers. Bear in mind that these themes were made before I started using SVG graphics so they’re big files. Also, they won’t rotate to landscape very well and they definitely won’t look good on a display that isn’t 240 x 320. Caveats aside, enjoy! All download links are mobile-friendly and can be grabbed right from your S60 browser.
Note: Please do not redistribute these themes without linking to this post. Thanks.

Blastfm - Finally a Last.fm Player for S60… Maybe

Thanks to Gerry Moth, a man I’m loving more with each passing minute, I am in the process of trying what looks to be the first functional Last.fm player for S60. It’s called Blastfm and it was built in Python. Sure, it’s not the optimal solution but beggers can’t be choosers! The app is in beta so be kind, but it allows you to stream various Last.fm stations and that is exactly what we’ve been looking for.
The problem - so far I’m not having any luck with it at all on my N95 8GB NAM. The app crashes with a System error (-2) as soon as I hit OK after entering my Last.fm credentials. I’m going to keep trying though because I’ve been waiting for this functionality forever…
Try it out, the download link is in the Nokia Addict post. Also, be sure to pay homage to M3 Solutions for putting this puppy together - if you can get it working! Make sure you read the Nokia Addict post before you try to install it!
UPDATE: Still not working for me guys. I’m giving up for now - let me know how it works out for you!
