Theme Master Taieb Has a Site!

How I forgot to tell everyone about this earlier I have no idea, but one of my favorite themers has recently launched his own website!

That’s right people… Taieb! I’ve featured his themes quite often here on SiMo and I’ve asked him about putting up a site for quite a while. Well it looks like he finally got some help and his site is looking great. You’ll find a big archive of nearly all the S60 3rd work he’s done to date. There are also RSS feeds that you can subscribe to so that you’re notified as soon as a new Taieb theme hits the net (though images don’t seem to be working yet).

So a belated congratulations to the very talented Taieb. Now head on over to his site and have fun exploring…

A New Blog, an Overdue Link and Some Insight

Catching up, catching up… I’ve been oh so very busy lately as has Abul but we’re doing our very best to keep some good information flowing through SiMo. Of course SiMo is hardly the only thing that each of us works on these days. To say our schedules are full is an understatement.

On my end of things, I’ve been swamped. I won’t bore you with the details, but I will mention one thing: I’ve launched a new blog! What? Huh? He’s already down to three hours of sleep each night and he launched another blog? Ok, simmer down now - it’s just a tumblr blog. ;) My new blog will by personal sketch pad. It will reach well outside of SiMo and BGR into various areas and it will of course concentrate on technology, the internet and all that is mobile (I’m sure you’ll find Symbian / Nokia-related topics on there quite frequently). You’ll also find some fun stuff come through in my Qik feeds, etc. I’m unsure how often it will be updated but I’m hoping for at least a few times per week. Tumblr is a great platform for a personal blog like this as it is quite flexible for a free platform. So please, check it out and feel free to subscribe:

maramine

You’ll also find a new link to maramine in the sidebar just under the search box. The old link was to BGR but I think everyone knows I write there by now. Beneath the maramine link you’ll find another new link that should have gone up a loooooong time ago. Abul’s blog, Adonis Mobile, has been up for quite some time and covers a variety of content surrounding the mobile world. Adonis Mobile is quite popular in fact and if the feed is not currently in your reader of choice, I highly recommend that you add it.

Adonis Mobile

Beyond everything else, Abul and I are both gearing up for a refresh at Mobile9. Currently ranked 254 by Alexa, Mobile9 sees over 29 million unique users per month who view an astounding 250 million pages per month. Needless to say there is tremendous amount of potential for this already successful site and as we continue to mold and refine our offering and focus, we couldn’t be more excited about the future.

So there you have it. Getting back on topic, 2008 is going to be a fantastic year to be a Nokia fan. Plenty of exciting things will be coming out of Finland this year; some we know about already and some we don’t. Here at SiMo, we’re going to do our best to keep up and bring you all of the information we can as soon as it becomes available to us. Stay tuned!

Papyrus Free on Handango Today

Thanks to Rita for reminding me that today is another “Free App Friday” on Handango. By the way, have you stopped by Rita’s blog Dotsisx lately to see the redesign? Nice!

Handango’s freebie this time around is actually a pretty popular app! Papyrus is an app that I’ve tried to get behind at least 10 times now. It seems like it should be an absolute necessity but for my personal use - not so much. I add some schedule items from time to time but tasks/to-dos get much more use on my device. If you’re a heavy calendar user though, Papyrus is definitely the app for you. The integrated S60 calendar is weak at best and Papyrus packs all the punch you need to organize your life.

So click through and get some free app love. Good thing Handango gives us a direct link to the free app because it would be impossible to find amongst all of the annoying screen savers, way-too-busy themes and “borrowed” ringtone packs in their galleries… ;)

SiMo Featured on Symbiano-Tek

I apologize for the recent silence but I’m just now catching up on everything I missed while enjoying the long holiday weekend here in the US. While I get everything in order I wanted to point you towards a great new feature over on the Symbiano-Tek blog.

Tarek Ghazali has started a new series where he will be providing unbiased reviews of mobile-centric blogs every Friday. In my opinion, this is a great series that may be useful to many readers out there. I’m always on the look out for new blogs/resources and it will be great to know that I can rely on a concise new review every Friday.

Tarek’s first published segment just so happens to be focused on Symbian in Motion. Woo hoo! ;) Click through to check it out - lots of good observations. I always enjoy feedback so a big thanks to Tarek! I highly recommend that you keep an eye on Symbiano-Tek to see what resources will be covered next.
