Blackberry 8703e for Verizon rumored to release on August 28?
Any information related to this latest leak of the Blackberry 8703e is sketchy at best. FCC has not given the green light (or that we know of), and the rumor that it also supports GSM was squashed into oblivion. It will however support Verizon’s high speed, EV-DO; that we’re pretty darn sure of. All we have here are some pictures and screenshots… [Read]
BlackBerry Malware Unveiled
A BlackBerry Trojan horse has surfaced that, when launched, grants an attacker access to the wireless network to which the devices connect. A researcher told attendees at a conference last weekend that he had developed the malware, dubbed BBProxy, which exploits the link between a BlackBerry and its email server. While not viewed as a threat to customers, the malware is one of the first aimed specifically at the ubiquitous wireless devices, according to manufacturer Research in Motion. [Read]
Blackberry 8100 takes aim at consumer market
Long known as the tether that keeps businesspeople tied to their offices, the RIM Blackberry has become an essential part of business around the world. Not content with just keeping people in suits addicted to their products, RIM appears to be looking to go after the regular consumer market with a new, thinner version of their popular smartphone. The upcoming Blackberry 8100 will come loaded with consumer-friendly features such as a digital camera and a music player, with memory expandable via a mini-SD slot. The 8100 will ditch the space-eating QWERTY keyboard that comes on its current models in exchange for a SureType thumb keyboard, enabling the phone to take on a narrower shape. [Read]

They're even catching on now with young Hollywood stars who want something more professional, and less bulky, than the otherwise ubiquitous Sidekicks. [Read]

Vodafone releases 3G BlackBerry
The latest BlackBerry 8707v from Research in Motion (RIM) is a 3G phone which supports the trademark BlackBerry push e-mail system popular among mobile business workers. Because this latest handset will connect to Vodafone's Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service (UMTS) network, the device should be able to download and display e-mail file attachments on its landscape QVGA LCD display faster than BlackBerries working on standard GSM networks can. UMTS is a 3G permanent wideband internet connection which handles data throughput at speeds between 384Kbps and 2Mbps. [Read]
In-Flight Recharging, Spb Time, Pocket Express, and More
Inflight Power has developed a unique charging cable for use in aircraft, bus, or train seats. Simply by plugging in the cable into headset jack, the cable converts the audio output into USB power. Naturally, this requires the handheld or smartphone to be able to be recharged through a USB connection. Most, but not all, devices meet this qualification. [Read]
Wireless weather alerts
